Next Thursday, the 3rd of August 2017, sees the RICOH British Women’s Open make its debut at Kingbarns, Scotland and MissDesignerGolf.com is proud to be an official partner for this fantastic event.

Defending champion Ariya Jutanugarn will have her work cut out for her as she attempts to claim back-to-back British Open titles after her outstanding win in 2016. Not only will she be facing five former Ricoh Women’s British Open Champions, but will also be up against 24 Major Champions and 22 experienced Solheim Cup players vying to claim the most coveted piece of silverware in Ladies Golf.

Hot on the champ’s heels will be Mo Martin of the USA and South Korea’s Mirim Lee, who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively at last year’s event.

A notable name on the roster is Japanese veteran Ai Miyazato, who was offered a special exemption by the Championship Committee. As 2017 will be Miyazato’s swansong year in terms of competing, she is determined to lay claim to a trophy that has thus far eluded her throughout her career.

The Scottish contingent will also be looking to make a mark on this tournament on home territory. Scottish number one, Catriona Matthew, added, “As a proud Scot, I always feel the Ricoh Women’s British Open is that extra bit special when it is hosted in Scotland and I know the new venue on the rota this year will be well received by the players. Kingsbarns is going to provide a stern test of links golf while also showcasing the amazing beauty of the Home of Golf.”
