Women’s Open 2021
Where: Carnoustie Golf Links Scotland
The August competition is going to welcome 144 of the world’s top female players who are set to take on the fantastic course at Carnoustie in Scotland.
A big change from last year’s competition as 8,000 spectators are allowed to come and watch the open every day compared to the behind doors alternative that took place in 2020.
The competition will still follow government guidelines to ensure to protect the health and safety of all in attendance at the tournament.
The fans will bring a great atmosphere and passion to the tournament, which is something that was sorely missed at many events over the past year.

Pre- Round Stretches for a Better Golf Experience
Tee Up for Success: Pre-Round Stretches for a Better Golf Experience
Last week, we hopped on our Instagram Stories and asked you what the most important part of your pre-round golf routine is – and we heard you loud and clear! As golf enthusiasts ourselves, we know how important it is to prepare your body for a game of golf so we’re here to discuss the importance of stretching for golfers, and the best stretches for both the upper and lower body.
Why is stretching is important for golf?
Stretching is important for all golfers because it helps to improve flexibility, mobility, and range of motion. When you have good flexibility, you can move your body more freely, which can help you achieve a better golf swing. Additionally, stretching can help to prevent common golf injuries, such as strains, sprains, and muscle pulls – but we’ll have more about this later!
Stretching also helps to increase blood flow to the muscles, which can help to reduce muscle soreness and stiffness. This can be especially beneficial if you’re a golfer spending hours on the course. By stretching before and after a round of golf, you can help reduce the risk of injury and improve your overall golf experience.
The best stretches for golfers – upper body
When it comes to stretching for golf, it’s important to focus on both the upper and lower body. For the upper body, we’d recommend the following stretches:
Shoulder stretch
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your arms at your sides. Raise your right arm above your head and place your hand on your left shoulder. Use your left hand to gently pull your right elbow towards your left shoulder. Hold for 15-30 seconds and then repeat on the other side.
Chest stretch
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your arms at your sides. Clasp your hands behind your back and lift your arms until you feel a stretch in your chest. Hold for 15-30 seconds.
Tricep stretch
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your arms at your sides. Raise your right arm above your head and bend your elbow so that your hand is behind your neck. Use your left hand to gently push your right elbow towards your left shoulder. Hold for 15-30 seconds and then repeat on the other side.
And here’s our favourite and most effective lower body stretches:
Hip stretch
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and place your hands on your hips. Step forward with your left foot and bend your left knee until your thigh is parallel to the ground. Hold for 15-30 seconds and then repeat on the other side.
Hamstring stretch
Sit on the ground with your legs straight out in front of you. Reach forward and try to touch your toes. Hold for 15-30 seconds.
Calf stretch
Stand facing a wall with your hands on the wall for support. Step back with your left foot and bend your right knee. Keep your left heel on the ground and hold for 15-30 seconds. Repeat on the other side.
We can’t stress enough how important it is to stretch regularly and correctly in your golfing routine. Not only does it help to prevent common golf injuries, but it also improves flexibility, mobility, and range of motion. By incorporating pre-round stretching routines into your golf game, you can improve your golf experience and reduce the risk of injury. Remember to focus on both the upper and lower body, tailor your routine to your needs, and be mindful of stretching during the round. With these tips in mind, you’ll be able to enjoy a successful and injury-free round of golf!
Remember to always consult with a medical professional before starting any new exercise routine. Happy stretching and golfing!
Masters Tournament 2023
TV coverage is exclusively on Sky Sports and Now TV all week, beginning at 2pm on Thursday. The Masters is no longer on BBC, after 56 years of coverage. Another great way to follow the Masters is to download the Masters app on your phone or tablet, where every single shot can be watched.
Who is going to win?
Over the last 12-18 months, men’s golf has been dominated by the “big three″ of McIlroy, Rahm and Scheffler. Since last August, these three golfers have won 10 events between them. Rory McIlroy will go into the Masters as favorite and is our tip to win the green jacket and join a select group of five players to have won the Career Grand Slam (won every major at least once) –Jack Nicklaus, Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Tiger Woods. Scottie Scheffler is the world number one and defending Masters champion, and recently won the Players Championship. Jon Rahm has won three times in America already this year and would love to follow in the footsteps of fellow Spaniards Seve, Sergio and Olazabal. Next favorite is USA’s Jordan Spieth, the 2015 champion has been in the top three five times at Augusta.
What does the winner get?
This years Masters champion will receive $2.7 million (€2.5 million) and of course, the highlight -the green jacket. Another huge bonus is a lifetime invitation to play in the Masters. They also receive a gold medal and replica of the Masters trophy. The real trophy permanently resides at Augusta National.
Will LIV golfers be allowed play in the Masters?
Yes they can. There are 18 LIV players in the tournament, including four other past champions: DJ, Sergio, Phil Mickelson and Charl Schwartzel.

Full Swing Netflix
Full Swing is a NETFLIX documentary series that follows a group of pro golfers across a gruelling season of competition, including all four majors: the Masters/Augusta National, PGA Championship, US Open and Open Championship. In addition to documenting their failures and wins on the course, the series digs deeper into the personal lives of some of the most talented golfers in the game — their families, rivalries and an impressive amount of drama.
Compared to other spectator sports like tennis or football, golf might seem like the quiet one of the group: However, Full Swing proves that when it comes to professional sports, there’s nothing quite like the high-stakes, ultracompetitive world of golfing.
The series follows professional golfers Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Brooks Koepka, Scottie Scheffler, Ian Poulter, Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Tony Finau, Matt Fitzpatrick, Sahith Theegala, Joel Dahmen, Mito Pereira and Cameron Young.
The show has received mixed reviews from viewers but everyone here at MissDesignerGolf have really enjoyed the show. However, regardless of the show’s quality, it is likely to have some impact on the popularity of golf. Any exposure of golf to a wider audience, particularly a younger demographic, has the potential to increase interest in the sport. “Full Swing” may inspire some viewers to pick up a club and try the sport for themselves. Additionally, the competitive nature of the show could attract fans of other sports who enjoy watching competition.
Overall, while it remains to be seen whether “Full Swing” will have a significant impact on the popularity of golf, already some golf retailers have seen an uplift in queries for starter sets!
And one thing is for sure, there is a lot of money to be won on the PGA Tour! Wow…
